Investigations into former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara have concluded, with the Bribery Commission informing the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (28) that the files related to the investigations regarding alleged irregularities in sending Sri Lankan workers to Israel during the previous administration have been submitted to the commission’s commissioners.
When the case was called before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama, Bribery Commission officials stated that the investigations concerning Mr. Manusha Nanayakkara have now been completed and the relevant files have been presented to the commission’s commissioners.
The Bribery Commission officials also requested a date to recall the case in order to inform the court about the subsequent steps to be taken regarding the former minister following the investigations.
Taking the submissions into consideration, the Colombo Chief Magistrate ordered the case to be recalled on December 18, and instructed the Bribery Commission to inform the court by that date of the measures taken regarding Mr. Manusha Nanayakkara following the investigations and the progress of the legal proceedings.
Allegations had been raised that former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara committed the offense of corruption by abusing his power through the selection of politically favored individuals when sending Sri Lankan workers for agricultural jobs in Israel during the previous administration.
